A preliminary study about gamification intrinsic and extrinsic motivators in single and multiuser environments

Abstract


Gamification is a process that consists in the utilization of game mechanics and concepts outside its main scope. This process has been widely used in many areas varying from economy to education. Based on this assumption, this work aims to present a study about the acceptance of gamification intrinsic and extrinsic concepts. In the end it is proposed a methodology that can be used within classrooms. In order to perform this research, a questionnaire was made, addressing the gamification concepts. Finally, an analysis about this concepts demonstrated some positive results regarding the intrinsic and extrinsic attributes.
